Sahalee Country Club Remodel
The project was quite an undertaking and took a year and a half to complete. It involved the initial design direction, floor plans, furniture layout, the selection of all materials & lighting, paint colors throughout, custom furniture, and design & manufacturing of custom hand-knotted area rugs, to name just a few items.

The TV was embedded into the wall above the fireplace and is hidden with rotating art and family photos within the framework. The tile on the fireplace wall was chosen to have a soft undulating quality that had a slight movement when the afternoon sun came in through the french doors facing the golf course. The area rugs were hand-knotted at 40 knots per square inch, and we custom-designed them using the Paint colors in the Great Room. The Client wanted a soft but not too gray and hard look for the space – we had the stain on the hardwood give warmth, and the wall color and trim were all done in variations of greige.

We designed the custom furniture so that the sofa was facing the fireplace and was large enough for her husband to lounge on. Swivel chairs were made so that it allowed for easy conversations. And the ottoman was deliberately designed with soft corners – one to make the space feel inviting and also not to have sharp edges for their toddler grandchild.

Our challenge was how to get more light into the otherwise dark great room. Skylights gave us all the natural light we needed. Designing an open configuration of the kitchen, living room and dining area made it a multi-use space for their large family who congregates every Sunday for dinner. We spent quite some time finding the perfect slabs of quartzite for the Island and counters. It needed to be white, and interesting but have some warmth to it and not too cold as there would be quite a large amount of it used in the kitchen area.

We carried the same color tone but a shade darker into the powder room off of the Great Room. For some textural interest, we tiled the wall in the back of the sink with an embossed leaf pattern tile. It was a soft addition but packed the wow factor to all who visited the room.

We used a Glass tile for the Backsplash in the kitchen – we wanted the translucent feel and wanted it to pick up the light from the darker side of the house. Floor-to-ceiling cabinets were created to store larger seasonal items and cleaning tools.

We staggered the ethereal pendants hanging over the dining table and angled the table, so it was welcoming you into the space. It also helped define that space as although next to the living room area it was designated for eating. They also wanted a place to showcase one of their favorite original art pieces. It was very cool. You walked up to the painting and held your phone pointed at it and all of a sudden the wings moved, and it started to take flight. It was quite the conversation piece.

There was a small space under the stairs that we converted into a small powder room off of the theatre/golf room. We decided to paint all the walls including the ceiling in navy blue which felt fun and showcased another piece by their favorite artist. The floating sink did not take up any visual space and the metallic tile on the backsplash the client found that little piece in a closeout bin. It worked perfectly!

The theatre/golf simulator room was designed to accommodate family and friend evenings around the big screen with theatre seating, a golf simulator for the clients to practice their swing virtually on courses around the world, and to showcase the client’s numerous awards and prized photos.
